Customers often ask us about how to install the landing gear.
The version before updating needed a screwdriver to unscrew the screw, and then put the landing gear in, which is very inconvenient for customers with big hands and was not easy to operate. Therefore, EXHOBBY has launched a landing gear with a buckle design, which is convenient for both disassembly and installation. When you need to replace the landing gear, you only need to pull it out to remove it. If you want to install it, you only need a little force to insert the landing gear into the slot.
The Evolution of RC Hardware: Why We Switched to Buckles
At EXHOBBY, we believe the hobby should be about flying, not frustrating bench work. The old screw-in landing gear had several drawbacks. First, the tiny screws were easy to lose in the grass. Second, frequent removals would eventually strip the plastic threads in the fuselage. Our new Buckle-Design System solves these issues by using a high-tension friction fit that "clicks" into place. It's secure enough for rough grass landings but can be removed in seconds for transport or replacement.

Maintaining Your Landing Gear for Smooth Takeoffs
Landing gear is the most stressed part of any RC plane. Even with the best buckle design, grass and dirt can get into the slots. We recommend checking your gear after every session. If the buckle feels loose, check for "foam compression" in the slot. A tiny drop of foam-safe glue can reinforce the area. For pilots flying in tall grass, we recommend the "Hand Launch, Grass Landing" method—simply leave the gear off and belly-land on soft grass to prevent "nose-overs."
Common Landing Gear Repairs
If you have a particularly hard landing and the landing gear wire bends, don't worry! Most of our trainers use high-tensile steel wire. You can usually bend it back by hand or with a pair of pliers. If the plastic buckle itself breaks, it's a 30-second swap with a spare part. Keeping a spare set of 761 series landing gear in your flight bag is a pro move that ensures your day isn't cut short.

FAQ: RC Plane Landing Gear Installation
Can I upgrade my old RC plane with buckle-design landing gear?
Most 761 series planes from EXHOBBY now support the updated landing gear slot. Check your fuselage for the standard buckle slot. If you're using an older model, a simple 3D-printed adapter or a minor foam modification can often allow you to enjoy this tool-free upgrade. Visit our RC Airplane Parts collection for replacements.
What should I do if my landing gear feels loose?
While the buckle design is secure, ensure there is no debris in the slot. A small piece of foam-safe adhesive or tape can add extra friction if needed, but usually, a clean 'click' indicates a proper fit.
